Rudolph With The Radar Nose - On a Stratocruiser, Of Course!

Wouldn't you know it? Another "first" for the B-377 Stratocruiser, Northwest Airlines, and the industry. Never mind the Lowrey organ - or the first air-to-ground telephone service - or the Fujiyama Tray. This was not done for passenger entertainment, convenience or competitive advantage; this was one of Donald Nyrop's early safety initiatives. And the creative NWA marketing department seized the day when they looked at the protrusion on the nose that held the radar unit and painted it red.

Red . . . Nose . . . Rudolph!
